Kachikally Crocodile Pool

The Kachikally crocodile pool is located in the heart of Bakau, Gambia, about 10 miles from the capital Banjul. It is one of three sacred crocodile pools used as sites for fertility rituals. The others are Folonko in Kombo South and Berending on the north bank. Very interesting place with interesting history.

Kunta Kinteh Island

Kunta Kinteh Island, formerly called James Island and St Andrew’s Island, is an island in the Gambia River, 30 km from the river mouth and near Juffureh.Fort James is located on the island. It is less than 3.2 km from Albreda on the river’s northern bank. As an important historical site in the West African slave trade, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with related sites including a ruined Portuguese chapel and a colonial warehouse in Albreda, the Maurel Frères Building in Juffureh, and Fort Bullen and Six-Gun Battery, which are located at the mouth of the Gambia River.

Bijilo National Park

Bijilo Forest Park, often known as Monkey Park, is a forest park in the Gambia, lying in the coastal zone about 11 km west of Banjul the Kombo Saint Mary District.

National Museum of the Gambia

The National Museum of The Gambia is a Gambian cultural museum located in Banjul. It is home to historical documents and displays concerning the History of the Gambia.

Abuko Nature Reserve

Abuko National Park is a nature reserve in the Gambia lying south of the town of Abuko. It is a popular tourist attraction and was the country’s first designated wildlife reserve.
